Weekend of Cards, part 1 & GIVEAWAY!!

And so it begins. I've decided to go about creating cards through set, that way no new set is ignored accidently. Before I share my creations so far tonight, I suppose you are all on the edge of your seats about the giveaway... I've decided to part with my French Flair calendar, I will also be making a Big and Little Pieces one with a different font (now seen on the left!). Anyway, for the giveaway, please post a comment, and include a link to your absolute favorite creation of your own. If you don't have a gallery, that's fine too, then tell me your favorite technique. These will have absolutely no bearing on the winner, I just want to see your favorite creations and hear about your favorite techniques. So please, comment on THIS post if you would like to be in the drawing for the calendars. This contest will close on MONDAY EVENING (that's the15th)

Now, on with the show...the first set I used was Very Punny. I made 3 different cards with it.

Here's the first one I made. Since I was using the cow image, I went with my recent favorite colour combination inspired by the Loves Me paper. I also had fun adding the scalloped and punches border. This one was created with the slit punch, I used the 1/8 for the little punches within the scallops.

Next I made this crazy card. Again, I went with the colours that were inspired by the animal in use. I chose the ladybug, so black and red it was! Once again, I used the slit punch to make the scallops around the main image. However, I used the corner rounder for the outside scallops. The big differences between these 2 punches is the direction and size. The slit makes a more bubbled scallop and if you want to use the scallops as I have, you have to cut them out and hide them under something. The corner rounder makes a more shallow scallop and you can use it to go around you entire piece of paper, very convenient. I like the look of them both. My last card uses the frog. I went with greens and dots. Once again, I did the spotty embossing on gable green. I paired that with a tri-coloured Dotted. Once again, I used my corner rounder to make the scalloped circle.

  1. I just love your very punny cards! I espcially like the frog one - I used to collect frog items (until I just got way too many). I love the detail of the embossed circles that you did yourself. As for my own favorite creation, it would have to be a card that I made for a swap using the polished stone technique. It was my first attempt at polished stone, and after the swap I decided to send it in to SU! for a contest. I think you have to copy and past my link, and after you do that and get to my page, it's the one that I put under the title "I'm Famous" because it ended up on Stampers Showcase on the Stampin' Up! website. I hope you like it! http://bootstostamps.blogspot.com/2006/12/im-famous.html

  8. I am a fairly new stamper and am just learning different techniques, so don't have a gallery and doubt with my lack of creativity that I ever will, but I sure do enjoy seeing your work. You make it look so simple and when I try, it doesn't look as good. Anyhow, my favorite technique is heat embossing. I love the look of the metallics. Thanks for sharing your work with us.

  10. Hello,

I love what you're showing with all your new goodies! I'm glad to know that bandaids served you well and didn't hinder productivity :)

It seems that most of the cards I like most I give away without thinking to post (must get better about that). In any event, here's one that I really like, that I remembered to post! http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=350734&cat=500&ppuser=36804

I think I like it because it's more layered and finished looking that some of my other work. I usually do more simple card layouts.
    Thanks for looking!

  17. I love your blog, and check it every day! I don't upload most of my cards to my Gallery because most of them are CASE'd to one degree or another. But here's one of my favorites - I love the Faux Wood look and I have the dry brush wheel, so I could fully participate in this challenge which was back in November.

  23. Great blog. I am so glad that I found it. I love your cards. Since I don't have a gallery of my own as of yet, I would have to say my favorite technique of the moment would have to be Faux Silk. I don't know why but the last few cards I did all had that background. I guess it's time to move on now. LOL

  24. All of your cards are great Natasha! I also love your calendar and would like to know if you have instructions to make it. My favorite technique is polished stone. I always go back to it as the effect you can get with glossy cardstock and reinkers is fabulous! Each card ends up being very unique. Enjoy your blog!
